In this video, Dr. Martin Compton from the Arena Center at UCL invites undergraduate students Kaz Fukuhara and Navi Jaiswal to discuss generative AI and its implications for academic work. The students share their understandings and experiences of using generative AI tools like chatGPT for essay planning and feedback, while also highlighting concerns regarding academic integrity when these tools are used for paraphrasing or summarizing research papers. Both students underscore the importance of AI literacy among students, emphasising that AI should be used as a supportive tool rather than a content creator, and warn of potential misinformation that AI can produce.
Navya Sara Jaiswal is a first-year student at UCL, doing a BA in Education Studies. Kazunori Fukuhara is a second-year student at UCL in Social Sciences with Data Science.
