EAG@IOE: Critical Race Theory: Just an American row or important to us?
Presenters: Isabel Nisbet and Stuart Shaw - In this webinar we shall consider what is meant by “Critical Race Theory” and its place in public and policy discourse in the USA and elsewhere. We shall start by considering the theoretical challenges of Critical Theory – and Critical Race Theory in particular; and then we shall consider its relevance for education, with specific emphasis on educational assessment. The webinar affords opportunities for discussion focused on real-life educational scenarios. The webinar should be of interest to those with a research interest in any stage of education (from early years to higher education). We do not assume any prior knowledge of Critical Race Theory. https://www.ucl.ac.uk/legal-services/privacy/general-privacy-notice

The seminar will comprise three areas for open discussion with participants: fair assessment in vocational contexts; fair selection for university; and, whether it is fair to make the future like the past. Each presentation will be 10 minutes followed by a discussion open to the audience.
