Global Engagement Office: Monica Lakhanpaul, JNU, Save the Children and IIT Delhi
Professor Monica Lakhanpaul (UCL Great Ormond Street Institute for Child Health), led team also including Professor Marie Lall (UCL Institute of Education and Pro-Vice-Provost South Asia) and Dr Priti Parikh (UCL Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatic Engineering) to develop an integrated health, education and environmental intervention to optimise infant feeding practices through schools and Anganwadi networks in India. Partnering with Save The Children, Indian NGOs and village community members to co-design the intervention. Application came about following a UCL scoping visit to India led by GEO in 2016. They are among the first UK projects to receive a Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) award.

Global Engagement Office: Professor Monica Lakhanpaul and IIT Delhi, JNU, Save the Children India, schools and Anganwadi networks
Professor Monica Lakhanpaul used a Global Engagement Office-led visit to India to forge new connections both within UCL and beyond, as well as Global Engagement Funds to shape her own research direction. She and Professor Marie Lall (Pro-Vice-Provost South Asia) and Dr Priti Parikh (UCL Engineering) formed a new interdisciplinary collaboration working with a variety of partners in India to come up with new, community-led solutions to the problem of child malnutrition in rural areas. Global Engagement Office: Dr Colin Marx and Makerere University, Uganda
Dr Colin Marx (UCL Development Planning Unit) used the Global Engagement Funds to strengthen his collaboration with Associate Professor Shuaib Lwasa at Makerere University. Their resulting publications led to additional larger-scale, externally-funded partnerships that are helping to make cities fairer.
