Decentralization and the Future of the Web | Spring Into STEM
We are promised a decentralized future online, particularly thanks to the diffusion of blockchain technology (e.g., via cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and DAOs). But what is decentralization exactly, and how can we tell how decentralized a given digital platform is? Is Instagram more decentralized than TikTok, or Bitcoin more than Ethereum? In this interactive session JP Vergne will provide an overview of these issues and offer some counter-intuitive answers.

Read-Right: UCL helps stroke victims learn to read again
UCL has launched an online tool to help people whose sight has been damaged by stroke to learn to read again. A medical and technological collaboration between the UCL Institute of Neurology and UCL's Multimedia team has developed 'Read Right', a therapeutic website designed to help people with Hemianopic Alexia (HA) to improve and test their reading ability from their own homes.
