Starting Young: How does education shape criminal justice?

Starting Young: How does education shape criminal justice?
"Starting Young: How does education shape criminal justice?" What impact does formal punishment have on antisocial conduct—does it deter or promote it? Drawing on a nationally representative sample of British adolescent twins from the Environmental Risk (E-Risk) Longitudinal Twin Study, a powerful research design is leveraged to perform a robust test of the deterrence versus labelling debate. A deep dive into this research study will be presented with some additional insight into what impact these findings may have on criminologist’ and practitioners’ perspective on the role of the juvenile justice system in society. The Howard League’s work in this area has seen tangible success and won a Children and Young People Now.
