Moving towards collaborative school-based autism research
In this talk, part of the Seminar Series "Bridging Educational Sciences with Practice in Education organised by Dr Roberto Filippi, Dr Laura Crane will discuss the research to practice gap in autism education, with particular focus on the tendency to exclude pupils in special schools from autism research. Laura will highlight the importance of collaborative research in autism education, and will introduce the work of the Pan London Autism Schools Network Research (PLASN-R) group; a partnership between autism special schools and academic researchers, who work together to bridge the research to practice gap in autism education. In particular, Laura will discuss an innovative action research project at one of the PLASN-R schools, outlining the efforts made to make the research maximally accessible and useful to schools, within and outside the network
