UCL KL Seminars: Data mining for performance assessment and adaptive intelligent tutoring of scientific inquiry
In this seminar Professor Janice Gobert gives a framework for and overview of studies on learning with visual representations in semantically-rich domains. She addresses how the methodological techniques available today, i.e. data mining, are transformative in terms of an approach for rigorously addressing how students learn from/with visualisations and how we can personalise these processes for students. Lastly, Professor Gobert provides an overview and demonstration of the current state of both Inq-ITS, an Inquiry Intelligent Tutoring System designed using evidence-centered design, and Inq-Blotter, its accompanying teacher alerting dashboard (www.inqits.com).
