Students as research partners: A practical guide with Dr Daphne Sobolev (Connected Conversations 1)
UCL’s Connected Curriculum initiative encourages researchers to engage students in academic research. However, conducting research with students could raise a wide range of challenges. This talk would cover the main steps that researchers could take in order to design and conduct studies with their students. In particular, it would set guidelines for the choice of a research topic, the design of the study, preparations of relevant lectures, preparation of marking schemes, coordination of the students’ efforts and the work on an academic paper. Attention will be given to details, such as integrity-related issues. Finally, the talk would exemplify how these stages can be implemented to produce academic outputs. Part of Connected Conversations series.
